Built like a home, because that’s exactly what it is.
Located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, the Alaska Fisher House serves families traveling from across the state — from Utqiaġvik to Ketchikan — to be near a loved one receiving medical care in Anchorage.
Both Fisher Houses · JBER
Alaska’s home away from home.
The first Alaska Fisher House opened on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in 2012, followed by a second home in 2018. Together, the two houses provide 28 private guest rooms for military and veteran families who need to remain close to a loved one receiving medical care — and both homes are within walking distance of the JBER Joint Venture Hospital.
Guests may include family members and designated caregivers of active-duty service members, retirees, and veterans receiving inpatient or outpatient care through JBER or the Alaska VA Healthcare System. Because every family’s circumstances are different, eligibility and lodging arrangements are coordinated directly with Alaska Fisher House staff.
The Fisher House program is a unique public-private partnership with the Departments of War and Veterans Affairs, serving families at military and VA medical centers throughout the United States and overseas.
